On March 4, 2026, the LTA was awarded a $210,000 grant from the Maryland Energy Administration Residential Energy Equity Grant Program. Vonnette coordinated the entire application process. She worked with our energy auditor and our development consultant to prepare a package that convinced the state to fund the replacement of the building's 93 single-pane windows and improve its energy efficiency. Vonnette also took care of key details; she made sure we used the correct forms, got all the documentation and kept us on track to meet an early deadline. It's worth noting that the previous year our application for this grant had been rejected. We had a postmortem with the grant director to learn that the reviewers had been enthusiastic about the proposal except for one missing affordability piece. From there, Vonnette revised and refocused the application to make it a winner this year.
Kairos Development played an instrumental role in helping Cherry Hill Development Corporation build organizational and development capacity while leading the community engagement process that resulted in the 2020 Cherry Hill Transformation Plan. Through Mrs. Harris’s thoroughness, diligence, consistency, and professionalism, resident voices were elevated and incorporated into a transformative community-led vision that has since leveraged millions of dollars in new investment in Cherry Hill. The impact of Kairos Development’s work continues to be felt throughout the community, and CHDC remains deeply appreciative of its partnership and lasting contributions.
